COVER REVEAL: REVELATION (Alexis Wolfe Trilogy)
Though her father’s suicide still lingers in her mind, Alexis must
put aside her grief and take on the role as Alpha of
her werewolf pack. Her new position also puts her next in line to be Queen of
the supernatural kingdom, the Dark Court, which needs to be united more than
ever now that mysterious attacks have been terrorizing the town. Too bad the
current queen, Samira, would rather lie and murder her way through a power trip
than step down quietly.
As Alexis investigates the murders, she learns corruption isn’t
just Samira’s game. Her leadership is being questioned by her very own pack,
and after a heart-wrenching betrayal, she isn’t sure if anything is worth
protecting. But when Samira makes one last assault, Alexis is the only one who
can end her reign of terror forever…that is…if she can find something worth
fighting for.

Rich Bitch
I always see posts saying “so and so just signed a 3 book
six figure deal” and I think to myself…that lucky bastard. L I would give my left
tit to get a deal like that...or so I thought. Georgia at Month 9 Books,
brought a post to our attention that I will insert HERE. (SERIOUSLY…CLICK THE LINK AND READ IT…because I
don’t want to repeat all of that info)
So anyhoo boo…are you done crying? Ooohh, so like me, you
thought you would get that deal and be a rich bitch? Yea…not so much. I really
had to reevaluate the goal I had for my writing career.
Initially when I started this journey I was hell-bent on
having an agent. In a perfect world I would get this pitbull highly aggressive
agent who would get me a kickass deal and make me money (yes…money…I write
because I love it…but I want to paid too honey…this is a career for me) and
people would know how awesome I am. It took some time and a little trial and
error to make me realize, that may not be the way to go.
I won’t go into detail about all the pros and cons for
traditional publishing vs self-publishing (but I will make a post about it
eventually) but due to my control issues and the need to be hands on, I think
self-publishing may be the way to go for me. In the post (told you to read it)
the author mentioned some tax stuff that I had no clue about and I definitely intend
to take the time and research more.
Um but yeah, I’m struggling and trying to figure out what
the right avenue is for me, but right now…getting an agent and going the full
length “traditional” route is not for me.

My Baby
I had so many things to post about writing and helpful tips but that was all overshadowed by the loss of my baby boy, Mr. Belvedere. He was my little boy and now he's gone. I wish I had something more positive and upbeat to post but his mama is hurting, and I'm expressing myself the best way I know how.

Georgia McBride, publisher at Swoon Romance, joins HEA to give us a sneak peek at their romances coming this spring.
Georgia: Most of the country has been blanketed in snow for the past few weeks. But today, signs of spring are evident in the call of the birds in my backyard, the bright sun which brought temperatures to 63 degrees in Raleigh, and the rapidly melting snow.
Every spring, I gather a list of titles from Swoon Romance that I think readers might enjoy. Please feel free to comment on your favorite and most anticipated spring contemporary romance titles below.
Young Adult
Snark and Stage Fright, a full-length novel, is the gripping, heartwarming and funny conclusion to the international category bestselling Snark and Circumstance series of novellas by Stephanie Wardrop! In it, Georgia Barrett learns the hard way that happily ever after isn't nearly as happy or close to forever as Jane Austen would have us believe. Georgia's sharp tongue costs her the only guy she's ever really cared about, and the only way to get him back is through a part in the school play!
New Adult
M.L. Spann's debut Swirl is the story of a girl in love with a guy who's off-limits at a time in her life where things are very much out of control. With no career, no place to live and no self-confidence to speak of, Bri has reached rock bottom. After a handsome jerk publicly humiliates her because of her weight, 24-year-old Brianna Davis hits an all-time low. When a friendly barista asks for her help and offers her a job, Brianna wants more than his kindness, she wants his heart.
The Nightingale Effect by Zoe Hardwicke.

Adult
When it's your job to save others, sometimes you forget to save yourself. Three nurses who share a waterfront house on City Island, a few miles and a world away from the bustle of Manhattan, find this out the hard way, as they succumb to the pressure and politics of the Intensive Care Unit while juggling the demands of romantic relationships, past and present. The Nightingale Effect is a debut work of women's fiction from Zoe Hardwicke that fans of Jennifer Weiner will enjoy.

We BROKE the Internet
OMG … you guys are so freaking awesome!!! Monday (2/9/15)
was my cover reveal and we broke the internet like Kim K. serving full frontal.
Okay not really … but my notifications were blowing up!! First of all I had no
clue my cover was even revealing. When I got the first notification I was super
stoked and then when they kept coming, a permanent smile was plastered on my
face. I have received so much awesome support and feedback.
I kinda want to be bothersome and find out how many
pre-orders I have. I guess that’s just one of those things when dealing with a
publisher…you can’t keep hitting refresh to check stats.
For the most part…I’m still riding the emotional high. I
just wanted to pop in and say thank you! Thank you for every tweet, blog post,
retweet, Facebook post etc. Just wow…
Check out the hotness of the cover!! AND it’s available for
pre-order!!!!! *read the synopsis here*

UPDATE
I am in the process of rebranding and honestly I don’t know what the outcome will be. So much has happened between the last time I posted and now, which was forever ago. I know I keep saying I will start posting regularly, and so far I haven’t, but a change has been ignited inside of me.
I know what you’re thinking…what the hell does that mean? Well it means I started out with such a passion, but no matter the amount of passion, a certain level of fear existed. A crippling fear so very palpable, that it caused me to back away from my passion. Something inside of me snapped recently and I realized that I need to throw caution to the wind and truly invest in myself.
Relying solely on word of mouth on mediocre novels is simply not enough (and I say mediocre in the sense that in my opinion they aren’t presented on a professional level, and that’s completely my fault…an error I’m currently correcting). I had to sit down and ask myself “How serious are you about writing AND being successful at it?”
So now, I’m in the process of getting PROFESSIONAL editing, organizing blog tours, and getting on a schedule. That crippling fear is still there, bubbling just below the surface, but I’m ignoring it (my fingers are in my ears and I’m yelling “blah, blah, blah, blah”).
Changes on all fronts will be major but I’m working to make the transitions as smooth as possible and this time I’m documenting every step of the process. I plan to have blog posts on a regular basis (posts that document my journey and provide helpful writing tips) and I’m working on a YouTube channel to document the process as well.
Stick around….I promise you won’t be disappointed!!!
Later Taters!!!

What in the Halibut is Going On?!
Guys, listen...I've been in Internet purgatory lately. I'm trying to
update things and figure out a direction to take my writing career and brand. Things may look a little different on the blog and that's because they are way different. For starters---I have a second pen name (M.L. Spann) I'm dedicating that name to my Romance titles only. Don't worry, I'm still keeping M.T. Harrte for my paranormal titles. Grrr ... life is kicking me in the face, but I'm loving every second of it!

UPDATES....well Sorta
I know…I know…I suck…but hear me out. I have been a busy
busy bee lately!! I won a 50 page critique by a real agent (squee!) and I’ve
drafted several other novels. My mind is screaming for me to take a break and
cuddle up with a good book and read, but alas…I simply cannot. As of right now,
I have five novels in the works, YES FIVE. I have a complete manuscript that I’m
holding onto until sometime in 2014. I’m also impatiently waiting to
participate in several contests (again…squee!) As for my blog…I fully intend to
at least post once or twice a week, er…um…that’s the plan.

Café au Lait Book Club!!!
The Queen’s Howl was selected by a wonderful group of people
to be the book of the month. I’m super excited and extremely nervous all at the
same time. I wonder how they stumbled upon my novel. I was thankful that they
even considered me at all. Being noticed is a wonderful feeling and I hope they
enjoy the novel.

My Method
I don’t know if any of you are curious,
but I’m curious to know other author’s writing processes. Early on in my writing career I had no rhyme
or reason to what I wrote, I would simply sit and write. I’ve learned now that I
need to organize my thoughts a little better to help the flow of the story. Now
I start with a general idea, and then I write out the characters as they appear
in my mind. Once I have a good visual of the character I make a point of
describing them: eye color, hair color and texture, skin tone etc… Oh yea… at
some point I give a general outline of the story that I never stick to but it
DOES help me to have something to go by. I have discovered a lot less
roadblocks and those “what color are his eyes again” moments.
As for the writing itself, I was simply
writing random things here and there. Sometimes on the computer, sometimes on a
slip of paper…such as on the back of a voided check lol. I have since
simplified my method by carrying a notebook around 24/7. It’s much easier for
me to write in my notebook, and then transfer it to my computer. After all that
is complete I print out the finished manuscript and do my first round of edits
by hand and then I go back and do it electronically. It sounds more complicated
than it really is lol. HAPPY READING AND HAPPY WRITING!!!!

Wow!!!
I have been gone for quite a while!!! Whew, busy little bee is an understatement. I have been writing, and trying to organize myself better. I'm really excited about the new things going on in my writing career. I now have beta readers, editors, and someone that does excellent book covers. I just wanted to check in and post and I promise to start doing better!
Here's the link to my author's page, check it out. http://www.facebook.com/m.t.harrte

Book Covers
One thing I can say for certain is the fact that I am not a professional when it comes to book covers. I'm sure I will get better with time but I seriously wish I could find somebody else to do it. What I really need is some half naked models to grace the covers and perhaps that will help book sales. Speaking of book sales, they have been good considering that The Queen's Howl was my first novel ever in life to be published. It could use some additional work and I'm looking into doing that. As of right now I'm working on the second novel in the series and some other works in varying genres. I have so many ideas that I'm kicking around, so be on the look out!

My First Negative Review
I received my first negative review! It was interesting and I
understood where the reader was coming from in regards to the characters, and
editing. I don’t want to give any spoilers….but everything that is written, is
that way on purpose! Alexis isn’t meant to be liked at least not right off, she
is definitely self-centered and immature. Some people will be able to identify
with her and some won’t. Her experiences will change her, whether or not the
change is for the better or for the worse has yet to be seen. I hope she is able
to develop based on her experiences. Don’t cast her off too soon, Alexis is
here to stay!
And on another note…..the book is doing well, and I hope to
have the second installment out in a couple of weeks!

The Queen's Howl
Finally! I did it! The book is done and I’m waiting on it to
go live on Amazon. I’m excited and
nervous all at the same time. The
hardest part in all of this was the freaking cover. In the future I would greatly prefer to just
write, I don’t want to edit or create the covers. It was a fun process but it gave me a
migraine! If I had it to do over again I
most certainly would jump on the opportunity.
Grab your copy on Amazon! The Queen’s Howl by M.T. Harrte! Yes!!!!!!!!
Here's the description for the book:
Alexis Wolfe is a young werewolf living in the prime of her life, until her father's grisly suicide shoves her into the position of Alpha of the pack. In taking his place, she is also the newest member of the Dark Court's Council and the rightful Queen to the throne...that is if she can tear it from the cold dead hands of the defiant vampire plotting to stop her. It's the Year of the Wolf and Alexis will take back what's hers, even if that means taking down those closest to her.

Motivation/Negativity
I have stated this before, I don’t like feeling boxed in. Currently I feel boxed in, suffocated. My job is working my last good nerve. I am anxious to finish my novel, just to say I did it. It used to bother me when people would ask me why I wanted to write, or what is my Plan B if it fails. There is no Plan B, I want to write, point blank, period. Once I explain my position and how I feel and what I hope to achieve, I get odd looks or comments such as “It sounds like you just don’t want to work.” You know what? That may be true. I don’t want to work doing some B.S. I don’t want to do! That is just me, that is who I am. I will do whatever I need to do in order to make sure my family is taken care of, but that does not mean I have to like it. I believe stress will cut your life short and what is more stressful than doing something you don’t want to do? People these days are so miserable and I refuse to be one of them. If I can only write part time and my novels only reach a max of 100 people then I am fine with that. My writing is my safe place. It makes me happy and that is the most important thing to me. If you need to take a chance on something, who better to take a chance on than yourself? You will not know what you can achieve if you never try. There are two people in the Olympics that I know from school, one from high school, and one from college. I don’t know if the goal and intention was to make it to the Olympics, but they did. I can only imagine all the side glances they received when they announced they wanted to run for a living. But guess what? They are making history and living their dreams. If nobody else ever motivates me again, that will be okay because I will motivate myself. I don’t live my life with the intent on living the dream that somebody else has designed for me. Sorry. I’m me and I will continue to be me.
